"The Flash" season 3 will be featuring Kid Flash, the superhero identity of Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), possibly due to Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin) altering history during the season 2 finale. Recently released premiere photos (via IGN) now confirm that Kid Flash and the Flash will be working together.
The photos showcase the two talking and standing together, hinting that they are going to be fighting a villain together. However, it is unclear if this takes place in the alternatre reality created by the Flash's actions or if this is in the regular universe after the Flash gets the timeline back in order.
It is also uncertain if Kid Flash, who is likely the Flash in the alternate timeline created by Barry, will still keep his powers when Barry restores the timeline to its original history. Back in season 2 it was hinted that Wally will gain powers when he was blasted with the same energy wave that restored Barry's powers.
As stated by Collider, the premiere photos also showcase Barry's parents, played by John Wesley Shipp and Michelle Harrison, still alive and together. Fans of the series will recall that both parents had died in the original timeline but in this alternate reality both have survived to see their son grow up.
One other photo showcases the return of Matt Letscher as Eobard Thawne aka Reverse-Flash. However, the images also showcase Reverse-Flash in prison. It is highly speculated that this is the same Reverse-Flash that Barry defeated when he went back to the past and that Eobard has been in prison ever since.
In the comic book source materials, particularly from the "Flashpoint" storyline, Eobard is the only character other than Barry that is aware of the original timeline and it is possible he will play a larger role in helping Barry erase this alternate timeline and restore the original, where Eobard and both of Barry's parents have already died.
"The Flash" season 3 premieres Oct. 4.
