"The Flash" season 3 has revealed that Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) had been developing meta-human powers due to Barry Allen, also known as the Flash (Grant Gustin), altering the timeline too many times. She may now become Killer Frost in Earth-1, and by episode 5, "Monster," she'll be reuniting with her mother to deal with these growing powers.
According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Todd Helbing explains that this episode will finally unveil why Caitlin has been distant with her mother and how their relationship has affected her over the years. Their relationship had been teased since season 2, but this will be the first time her mother, Dr. Tannhauser (Susan Walters), will appear on the show.
"You've heard snippets throughout the show so far of how her mom is pretty cold," Helbing explained. "When you meet her, you'll understand exactly what Caitlin has been talking about and exactly how their dynamic works. You can see how that's had a long-term effect on Caitlin," he went on to say.
The official synopsis, as per Screen Rant, reveals that Caitlin approaches her mother because Dr. Tannhauser is a renowned biomedical expert, and she may have the sufficient knowledge to help Caitlin deal with her powers. However, they will get into another fight when Caitlin feels like her mother is only treating her as another test subject, a lab rat.
It is uncertain if Caitlin Snow will become an antagonist like the Killer Frost from Earth-2 or if she may be able to change this fate and become one of Barry's new allies. In the original comic books, Killer Frost is known as one of the members of his Rogues Gallery, but this may change given how Caitlin has been portrayed as a key ally since season 1.
The synopsis also reveals that as Caitlin deals with her mother and her powers, Barry will be dealing with a new meta-human villain, and he will be turning to Julian (Tom Felton) for help.
"The Flash" season 3 episode 5 is scheduled to air on Nov. 1.
