While the next installment may still be far in the future, hardcore fans of "the Elder Scrolls" franchise can't help but wonder when the next title will release. Meanwhile, although the specific release period for "The Elder Scrolls VI" is still up in the air, different speculations on what the next title is all about continue to float online.
According to the latest rumors, the next installment may pick up where "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" left off, continuing the saga after Alduin's death. In essence, the next title may well be "Skyrim 2."
According to Yibada, although developer Bethesda has yet to come out with confirmed details about the next installment, the company might have already hinted what the next title will be all about. When Pete Hines of Bethesda was interviewed previously, he apparently stated that the developers will be coming out with "Skyrim 2" in a year or two as Bethesda is not in the habit of producing an annual franchise just to continue the titles, but rather prioritizes quality over quantity.
Interestingly, the industry follower pointed out that Hines might have deliberately used "Skyrim 2" in his statement rather than the expected "The Elder Scrolls VI." Yibada then guessed that this might be an indicator that the next title will be about continuing the story of the previous title.
Meanwhile, although there are fans expecting the game to be released either next year or in 2017, MNR Daily believes that the next game won't be seen until 2019 at the earliest.
According to the publication, with Bethesda keeping current its recently released "Fallout 4" title with promised expansion packs, along with another triple-A title in the works, developers might find focusing on a single "The Elder Scrolls" title difficult at the moment. In addition, Bethesda is also known to develop games down to the littlest of details, so titles -- particularly the main ones -- need at least four to five years in development.
