Fans of the biographical drama television series "The Crown" are already looking forward to the third season. All episodes of the second season were released on Dec. 8, and pre-production for the next one is underway.

The series decided to introduce a whole new cast for season 3. Actress Claire Foy will be replaced by Olivia Colman for the role of Queen Elizabeth. During an interview with Screen Daily, showrunner of the series, Peter Morgan, said, "I've strong feelings about how far you can go as an actor, I think you can age ten years younger than they are and ten years older and no more."

Despite pre-production in motion, there are still no announcement from Netflix if the series is renewed.

There are already plot theories for the next season from publications and fans. One speculation is that Princess Margaret and her husband and photographer Antony Jones will get a divorce. Margaret is portrayed by Vanessa Kirby and Jones by Matthew Goode. Several fans indicate that their marriage will be short-lived in the series.

Fans of the show are also looking forward to the introduction of the British duchess, Camilla Parker Bowles. The show's producer Suzanne Mackie revealed the plan earlier in April. There are still no release date announced for the third season with no confirmation if the series is renewed.

Second season of the series received great reviews from critics who are impressed by how the show utilized most characters before the recasting. Unlike the first season, which centers fully on Queen Elizabeth, the second season explores more stories involving other major characters. Several fans and critics agreed that season 2 shed more light on Prince Philip (Matt Smith) and how the character adapted to the changes involving her wife.

It was also well established in the new episodes that Elizabeth struggled in dealing with men in power including her very own husband. Vox released an article indicating that season 2 showed what powerful and bored men are capable of doing.
