Actress and producer Roma Downey captured something amazing while filming her upcoming series "A.D.: Beyond the Bible" in Morocco.

The cast and crew were filming a scene from Acts 4, when clouds formed the shape of a cross in the strikingly blue sky above the set.

"Everyone was stunned and filming stopped, as iPhones came out and everyone was snapping pictures," Downey told The Blaze.

Actors Adam Levy ("Peter") and Babou Ceesay ("John") were filming in front of the Sanhedrin last week when they spotted the providential sight.

"It certainly energised a tired, hardworking crew for the rest of the day and reminded everyone that we were being watched over as we are working hard to bring the Book of Acts to the screen," Downey explained.

After sharing the photo with megachurch pastor Joel Hunter, the preacher reminded Downey of Acts 2:19: "I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke" (New International Version).

"A.D." is the sequel to the hit Mark Burnett and Roma Downey-produced miniseries "The Bible", which aired on The History Channel last year.

The new NBC series begins after the resurrection of Christ, and follows the lives of King Herod's family, Roman politicians, temple priests, and Jesus' disciples.

"These disciples, after Jesus dies and resurrects, the Holy Spirit comes upon them and there is only one way for them–that's spreading the good news of Jesus," Burnett told Forbes Magazine in June. "What a drama."

"A.D." will premiere on Easter Sunday 2015, and is expected to run for 12 episodes.

The husband and wife team will also bring "Women of the Bible" to Lifetime on December 7. The two-hour special will tell stories of important biblical women through the voices of contemporary, female religious leaders such as Victoria Osteen, Kay Warren, and Joyce Meyer.

Also on Lifetime, Burnett and Downey's "Red Tent" will air on December 7 and 8. The biblical miniseries will tell the story of Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob.
