Teresa Giudic tweets about Pope Francis from prison

Pope Francis is currently in the United States for a six-day visit, and the pontiff's trip has been extensively covered by the media since his arrival last Tuesday, Sept. 22. One person who joins the country in celebrating the pope's visit is Teresa Giudice, who took to Twitter on Thursday night to share her feelings about the historic visit.

"Watching the Pope Francis coverage on TV and I am crying: what a wonderful man, such a kind and gentle soul #ProudCatholic," Giudice wrote.

The "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star has been in Danbury Correctional Facility in Conneticut since Jan. 5, when she began a 15-month sentence for fraud. Earlier this year, it was revealed that her privileges include phone calls to certain family members and friends and communicating via email through the prison's email system. As for her access to social media, it was reported that her eldest daughter, Gia, 14, is the one who posts messages on behalf of her mother.

Since Giudice started serving her sentence, the star has taken to Twitter six times, thanking her supporters for standing by her through this difficult time in her life.

The 43-year old has also been turning to her faith to get her through her prison stay. An excerpt from her prison diary revealed that she has been attending mass at the prison chapel.

Back in May, Giudice's lawyer, James Leonard Jr., said that when the cookbook author gets out of jail, many people will be surprised by a new and "more focused" Giudice.

"She's been getting in touch with her faith," Leonard told E! Online. "She's spending a lot of time praying in there, and I think the Teresa that comes out of prison is going to wow people."

Giudice was able to secure an early release from prison and will be freed on Dec. 23.
