Swedish Church and Mission Church in Ecumenical Agreement

An ecumenical agreement between the Swedish Church and the Swedish Mission Church is being proposed in the Swedish church annual council.

The ecumenical resolution between the two churches appeals for an acceptance of each others marriage ceremonies and the ordaining of priests making a way for a ecumenical agreement.

Released on the annual church meeting it stated this "challenges the division" and instead promotes a common understanding and cooperation.

Investigating the differences in the meeting, the hope is that the theological questions can be laid out, so that there can be a closer cooperation.

Through the decisions that were discussed, the churches plan to recognise each other on a national level, and come together in a common apostolic faith.

As well as this, a common understanding of sacrament, marriage and ordaining service, were sought.

They now wish to move together towards their expressed goal of sharing "fellowship in service, society life, (and) strengthened ecumenical relations."

Expressing their hope for stronger ecumenical relations they ended their release.
