'Supergirl' season 2 spoilers: Mon-El and Miss Martian will feature next season

Supergirl The CW

"Supergirl" season 2 will be moving from CBS to the CW and will feature "Teen Wolf" alum Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent aka Superman. Now, a report from Deadline also reveals that it will be introducing a few other superheroes such as Mon-El and Miss Martian.

According to the report, "The Containment" star Chris Wood will be appearing as Mon-El while "Hellcats" star Sharon Leal will be portraying Miss Martian.

Miss Martian is a relatively new character in the DC universe of comics, television shows and films. She was first introduced back in 2006 "Teen Titans" issue 37 and is a female counterpart to Martian Manhunter (David Harewood) as she is also from Mars. However, she is a White Martian while Martian Manhunter is a Green Martian.

Mon-El is also revealed to be the person inside the pod that crash landed during the "Supergirl" season 1 finale. According to a report from Screen Rant, it is possible that Supergirl will be calling her cousin Superman for help right in the season 2 premiere in order to figure out what to do with Mon-El and to discover whether or not he is an enemy.

In the DC comics, Mon-El is initially mistaken as a Kryptonian but it is later revealed that he is a Draxamite. Draxamites and Kryptonians exhibit the same kind of powers but the main difference is that a Draxamite is weak against lead while Kryptonians are only weak against Kryptonite, irradiated rocks from their destroyed planet.

Mon-El is also a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, a group of heroes similar to the Justice League and the Legends of Tomorrow. The Legion was teased in "The Flash" season 2 and also in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 1. With Mon-El's introduction it is possible the CW is building up a "Legion of Super-Heroes" series.

"Supergirl" season 2 will premiere on the CW this Oct. 10.
