'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' plot news: Daisy Ridley spoils antagonist's plans just weeks before the movie's release

Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the new "Star Wars" trilogy, has revealed the plans of Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) in an interview.

During an interview with Ridley about the newly introduced and cute "The Last Jedi" creatures named Porgs, the 25-year-old actress has claimed that Snoke was simply a test for Rey. "He looks mental. Snoke is an evil guy if you can call him a guy," said Rey in the interview.

She further added that "Snoke is one of those tests for Rey. And when I say testing, it's the worst use of testing ever."

Fans will recall that one scene in the upcoming "Star Wars" sequel, as seen in trailers, shows Snoke apparently torturing Rey. There, the actress had to scream at the top of her lungs, hence her comment towards it. Ridley also stated that the said scene was very painful for her throat and had taken a toll on her voice.

Aside from testing Rey, Snoke also seems to favor her over his current apprentice Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) as she is more powerful compared to the young dark Jedi. Fans saw who Rey managed to resist Ren's mind-control and interrogation power during "The Force Awakens."

Fans and critics alike have drawn parallels to this premise, as it is similar to how Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) tested and wanted both Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and his father Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) a.k.a. Darth Vader. Due to this, many believe that "The Last Jedi" will be quite similar to 1980's "The Empire Strikes," much like how "The Force Awakens" was reminiscent of 1977's "A New Hope" in terms of plot and twists.

As for Snoke, Rey has also teased that he may not be as he appears, and he may not even be real. Instead, he could only be a projection of the dark side of the force. As to who is responsible for the projection remains to be seen, though fans who had expected Luke Skywalker to turn evil might finally get their theories confirmed.

More will be found out about Snoke and Rey, as well as Luke's true colors, once "Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi" premieres on Dec. 15.
