'Star Wars Episode 7' movie plot spoilers: J.J. Abrams says that some rumors are true

There are just too many rumors about "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" that even its director found the need to step in. But he didn't debunk them. In fact, J.J. Abrams has spoken about how the rumor mills sometimes hit the mark. He was at the Irish Oscar Wilde awards in Los Angeles when BBC managed to shoot him a few questions about the most awaited film of the year.

"We did the best we can to preserve the story for the audience, but it doesn't always work," Abrams told BBC.

"There are a ton of rumors - some true, some false. But I'm grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie," added the director, himself a "Star Wars" fan who admitted that scouring for details about massively hyped film just cannot be helped.

Abrams has always kept his scripts tightly under wraps. But with one as massive as "Star Wars," especially one that reunites Mark Hamill and Ford Harrison after many years, it is difficult to control leaks that just seem to sprout from all directions. It remains to be seen which of the flood of rumors are actually true. Nevertheless, the director assured that "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" can keep up with the enormous build up surrounding it.

"I can't wait for you to see it. It's been a blast working on this and luckily we have an incredible post-production team," Abrams told BBC News. "There are always challenges as you go but it's been a complete kick to put this together."

"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" reunites Ford, Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew. Newcomers in the movie include John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis and Domhnall Gleeson. The movie will hit theaters on Dec. 18.
