'Spider-Man: Homecoming' news: First trailer to be released with 'Rogue One' in cinemas?

"Captain America: Civil War" gave viewers their first glimpse of actor Tom Holland as Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, who is now a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character is getting his own film next year, "Spider-Man: Homecoming," and rumors now suggest that the trailer will launch with "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

Very little is known about the film other than that Michael Keaton will be playing the villain Vulture and that it will take place in a high school setting. The cast of actors are already known, but the roles they play remain a mystery. An even bigger mystery is how this film will further cement Spider-Man as a part of the MCU.

According to Comic Book, It is important to note that Sony has yet to confirm if the trailer is indeed going to debut with "Rogue One." Because of this, the date mentioned should be taken with a grain of salt until the studios do give the confirmation. It is possible the trailer will give audiences a few hints in regards to these plot threads.

Launching the trailer with the film would make sense, given that both Marvel and Lucasfilm, the studios behind the Marvel films and "Star Wars," are both owned by Disney. "Rogue One" is also launching approximately 7 months before the release of "Spider-Man: Homecoming," and this often the time period where first teaser trailers are released.

There is also the fact that Sony, the studio that owns the film rights to "Spider-Man," are in a deal that allows them to work with Disney and Marvel Studios.

However, given that "Rogue One" premieres on Dec. 16, the report states that the trailer may be released online a few days ahead. It is very common for trailers to become available on streaming sites like YouTube before they are properly launched in theaters.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is slated to premiere on July 7, 2017.
