Spanish Bible Translation Ignites New Hope for Hispanic Evangelism

The World Bible Translation Centre has recently completed the translation of the entire Spanish Bible, and they are currently in the process of being printed for distribution in the United States, as well as Central and South America. 80,000 Bibles, 100,000 New Testaments and 10,000 Spanish/English New Testaments are being prepared for delivery across the Spanish speaking world.

WBTC’s Spanish New Testament, La Palabra de Dios para Todos is being used by major ministries for evangelism. In Mexico, tens of thousands have been converted through this. Sharing the Gospel has been made easier with readers of all ages in cities and villages. Outreach ministries have used the text to people in Honduras, Colombia, Mexico and Cuba, and it has even been distributed to prison ministries in Texas and Nicaragua.

However, the Old Testament has been completed which has allowed the Scriptures to be read as a whole. The actual translation for the Old Testament was already underway when the New Testament was released in 2001, and has now been fully completed.

This translation will be a new tool which provides a great opportunity to evangelise Hispanic speaking people. However, the total project will cost US$500,000, although already US$240,000 has been gathered, there is still US$260,000 remaining to be collected for the project’s conclusion. Currently more funding is needed to print and distribute the Spanish Bible and New Testaments, and the World Bible Translation Centre has appealed for more funding and donations for the project.
