SpaceX news: Iridium-4 launch a massive success, causes big stir on social media

SpaceX's Iridium-4 Mission was a big success with the Falcon 9 lifting off from Space Launch Complex. The launch then stirred frenzy across the wide platform of social media.

On Dec. 22 at 5:27 p.m. PST, SpaceX managed to launch the Falcon 9 rocket containing the Iridium-4 Mission to space from the Vandenberg Air Force Base. The launch then wowed millions of people who got to see it from afar.

The Iridium-4 Mission is the fourth set of 10 NEXT satellites in a series of 75 satellites in total. The deployment of the satellites was a success as confirmed by Iridium. SpaceX established a backup launch opportunity on Dec. 23 but was no longer needed given that the first launch was a success.

A lot of netizens poked fan at the amazing milestone for SpaceX. SpaceX CEO and founder Elon Musk even joined in on the fun. The inventor posted on Twitter a video footage of the launch from a distance and captioned it with "Nuclear alien UFO from North Korea."

The launch left an eerie cloud formation in the sky, which others found beautiful. A number of celebrities, including  Demi Lovato, Orlando Bloom, also added levity to the moment, indicating that the formation was the result of a UFO.

People from southern California had the chance to witness the historic moment and then shared it to the world. One netizen who was at Disneyland in Anaheim posted a picture of the launch above a Mickey Mouse themed Ferris wheel. The netizen wrote, "The view of SpaceX from Disneyland in Anaheim. Amazing. Feels like a dream."

The launch sparked a moment of wonder across southern California that has been struggling with the massive Thomas fire. The largest wildfire in California history has been ablaze since Dec. 4 and continues to stay active in some areas. The wildfire is already 86% contained as of report writing.
