Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact news: Specs, features, pricing, and availability details

Sony fans will now have the chance to own one of the company's new flagship smartphones, the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 compact, as both devices are now available in the United States.

Both devices were introduced in January and was only available in Europe and other markets then. Now, Sony, as promised, has brought the devices to the U.S. market. Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are now available at $599.99 and $499.99, respectively, and one can purchase them unlocked through Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H.

A post from PlayStation Blog claim that the new smartphones have the fastest autofocus camera feature in the world. It also features high-resolution audio and a design that is dustproof and splash resistant.

Xperia Z5's display measures 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080p, while the Z5 Compact has it at 4.6 inches and 720p screen resolution. As for the memory size, the former has 32 GB while the latter has 2 GB. Their batteries differ as one has 2,900 mAh and the other has 2,700 mAh, but both devices are equally powerful; they can last for two straight days after a single full charge.

Both Xperia devices come in various color options. The Z5 model is available in white, green, gold, and black; while the Compact model comes in white, coral, yellow, and black.

There are also perks that come with buying either flagship phones. According to PC Mag, each Sony device will let buyers download three movies without any cost and they include Sony's "The Walk" and "Hotel Transylvania 2."

With these free movies, users will get a taste of how awesome the viewing and listening experience can be with the new devices, thanks to their high-resolution audio and "automatic headset compensation."

Also, one of the most highlighted features of the Xperia Z5 models is the PS4 Remote Play feature, allowing users to continue playing PlayStation 4 games using their phone.

Both devices run on an Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, but they can be upgraded to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
