It has been a while since WayForward Technologies released an expansion pack for "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero." This is why fans are thrilled to learn that new downloadable content (DLC) is coming up soon. The latest content pack will introduce new playable characters, as well as an interesting storyline that will show a different side of the game's titular character.

As reported by Dual Shockers, the new DLC for "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" will be titled "Friends to the End," for the reason that the upcoming content pack will feature Shantae's dear friends, Sky, Bolo and Rottytops. The three brand new characters will be playable, as they will become a part of a special mission in the DLC storyline. This time around, the fans will see Shantae as a villainous entity known as Nega-Shantae, transformed by a dark magic that twisted her mind. With this, Sky, Bolo, and Rotty must work together in order to stop Nega-Shantae from destroying their world, as well as to save Shantae from the magical affliction.

Even as Shantae became evil, the new DLC characters can enter her mind to restore the hero's loving personality. The mission will not be easy, but players can use the characters' unique sets of skills to finish every stage of the game. Players will get to shift from one character to another on-the-go, according to Destructoid.

Sky has the ability to use her eggs to launch an attack against the enemies. The eggs can be used for long-range projectile attacks. Meanwhile, Bolo can swing from one place to another with ease, thanks to his Spring Claws. Using the character can help the player travel more quickly. In terms of combat, Bolo can be used for medium-range attacks with his spiked chain.

Last but not the least, Rottytops is considered as the strongest of the three DLC characters, due to her powerful zombie leg attack that can deal huge amount of damage on enemies. Aside from her detachable leg that serves as a club, Rotty can take off her head and throw it in places that are inaccessible by foot.

WayForward Technologies is done developing the new "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" DLC, and it has already been submitted to Sony, Microsoft, and other gaming platform companies for approval. The latest expansion pack is set to be released this Holiday season, which Kickstarter backers can obtain for free. All other players will have to purchase the DLC once it becomes available.
