The head of the Family Research Council spoke out on his views of the pervading sexual culture in America, and he has no nice words for it.
Tony Perkins, addressing the Council in a speech on Monday, described the culture in the United States as "gone mad." Perkins summarised his thoughts by stating that the Sexual Revolution in America represents the gravest threat that the country faces today.
"The threats America face are not potential — they are clear, present and dangerous," the Christian Post quoted from Perkins' speech. "And ironically they come most sharply today not from the radical economic doctrines of Karl Marx, nor from the lights of what Winston Churchill called 'perverted science,' but from the darkness of unrestricted sexual license — a new Cultural Revolution — gone mad."
Perkins also took the opportunity to urge Congress to pass three laws, The Christian Post reported, including the Marriage and Religious Freedom Act. The Act is meant to protect people from adverse action by the federal government as a result of exercising the belief that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman.
Sponsored by Congressman Raul Labrador, the Act will prevent the government from taking actions like revoking tax exemptions and denying benefits from people who religiously observe these beliefs.
Perkins went on to urge the passing of Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act. The first Act will make abortion for babies that are five months of age or older illegal on the basis that the fetus is capable of feeling pain at that point in its development.
The No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act will fully prohibit the use of federal funds for abortion. Currently, federal funds can be used to provide services for aborting babies that result from incest or rape, or when childbearing will endanger the mother's life.
According to the Christian Post, Congress might render a decision on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act on Thursday.
"Abortion on demand and human trafficking compose a common league of evil," Perkins added. "Ending that league is the abolitionist cause of our time."
