San Francisco Giants vs New York Mets live stream (ESPN): Watch MLB Wild Card baseball 2016 online

The San Francisco Giants will play the New York Mets in a winner takes all MLB Wild Card round match up from Citi Field in Flushing, New York. The game has a scheduled start time of 8.09 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the ESPN network. The game can also be watched online through live stream via the link below.

Today's mouthwatering game features two of the best pitchers in the league as the defending National League champs take on a team that has won three World Series in recent years.

There's not an MLB fan who would want to miss today's shoot out between Madison Bumgarner and Noah Syndergaard, and with two such prolific pitchers on the mound, this game could go either way.

Whoever wins today between the Giants and the Mets will progress to the NL Division Series against the Chicago Cubs, where as the loser of course will have their season brought to an abrupt end.

Mets manager Terry Collins has said, "Right now, all we're going to try to do is go out and play a game, play our game. Try to limit the mistakes, both offensively and defensively. We've got to make pitches. We're going to be tested. It's going to be a great game. Postseason, the best teams are in the postseason. And we think we're got a pretty good team. So it's will be fun to get out there and get started."

Both of these teams finished with exactly the same 87-75 record this regular season, but the Mets were able to secure home field advantage as they won 4-3 through the seven games these two teams played against one another this season.

With home field advantage and coming into the Playoffs with the best winning percentage of .643 in the NL since September 1, the Mets may be considered the slight favorites for this one. But then again this is the Playoffs, and a Wild Card game at that, so anything can happen. In addition, when the opposition is the San Francisco Giants in the postseason it would take a brave man to write them off.

The Giants come into the postseason in very lukewarm form, having gone 30-42 following the All Star break. They only made the Wild Card game thanks to their earlier form, where they posted 57-33 prior to the All Star Midsummer Classic.

But the Giants will know better than anyone that whatever happened in the regular season matters little now, the fact is they have made the postseason, and they have a team that almost always rises to the occasion in the Playoffs.

Bumgarner comes into today's game after having a 15-9 season with a 2.74 ERA, and he has a wealth of postseason experience that will ensure the Giants are in good hands tonight.

Meanwhile, Syndergaard went 19-4 this season with a 2.60 ERA for the Mets. He also will not be fazed by today's occasion, and last October he oversaw a win in Game 3 of the 2015 World Series - which incidentally was the only game the Mets were able to take from the Royals.

Today's massive MLB Wild Card round 2016 game between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets has a scheduled start time of 8.09 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the ESPN network or online through live stream by clicking here.
