Samsung Galaxy X release date, specs latest news: Foldable handset expected at MWC 2019

Samsung has previously confirmed its plan to launch its first-ever foldable handset, initially dubbed as the Galaxy X. The South Korean tech giant did not specify an exact release date for the device, although the rumors are rife that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy X sometime in 2018. Unfortunately, the public may have to wait until the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next year where it is rumored to be unveiled.

As reported by Value Walk, the Samsung Galaxy X is unlikely to make an appearance this year. There is a lot of reason for the supposed delay of the Galaxy X, but it is believed that Samsung has yet to develop a technology that will incorporate truly bendable OLED touchscreen panels to its upcoming handset. Instead, the company is expected to take a little more time to prepare its big offering.

It is rumored that Samsung will use the MWC 2019 event to introduce the Galaxy X handset to the world. The said tech expo will be held from February 25 to 28 in Barcelona, Spain next year. The MWC stage is no stranger to giant Samsung hardware launch, but next year could be more exciting as the company will present a unique and flexible handset.

However, it is also possible that Samsung will choose to launch the Galaxy X a few days before the main MWC event, just like this year with the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphones.

The South Korean tech publication The Bell was the first to get a scoop regarding Samsung's 2019 gizmos. Aside from the Samsung Galaxy X, it was also tipped that the company is set to launch the Galaxy S10 smartphone early next year, or almost exactly a year after the launch of the Galaxy S9.

This time around, the Samsung Galaxy S10 will be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019. Usually, Samsung takes its mid-range A series smartphones to the CES stage every year.
