The Samsung Galaxy Tab S series will be superseded by the company's Galaxy Tab S2 lineup, which will comprise of an 8 inch tablet and a 9.7 inch one. According to Sam Mobile, the upcoming products are expected to be thinner than Apple's iPad Air 2 and will be available to purchase in both LTE and standard Wi-Fi models. The website has stated that the slates are going to be released in June, and will be distributed to the following regions first, before reaching to other parts of the globe:

  • US Canada
  • Europe
  • China
  • Latin America
  • Hong Kong
  • Korea
  • India

As for the hardware specifications, Samsung will be expected to follow the same approach that the firm did concerning its own chipset incorporated in its flagship smartphone duo, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge (Exynos 7420). While details are currently unavailable as to which chipset will be used in the upcoming tablets, it is possible that they will be powered by Exynos 5433, which is the same SoC present in Samsung's current phablet sized device, Galaxy Note 4. Additionally, both tablets are expected to house 3 GB of RAM, along with a MicroSD card slot (with a storage limit of 128 GB).

Both devices will most likely be running Android Lollipop 5.0.2 update, along with rendering a dense resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels. The LTE variants are going to be equipped with Samsung's in-house LTE Cat 6 modems, along with an 8 MP rear camera coupled with a 2 MP front shooter. Unfortunately, pricing details of both products were not leaked, but it is possible that Samsung will maintain the same launch price tags that were present on the company's Galaxy Tab S lineup of tablets.

Just like its predecessors, Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is expected to be the more expensive product out of the two and will most likely feature a much larger battery, thanks to its larger form factor.
