Samsung Galaxy S9 release date, specs & price news: Leaked images reveal several features of device

One of the biggest headaches of being a giant technological company is trying to keep your latest secrets from leaking to the public.

Most of the internet community will have already found out the specifications of Samsung's latest Galaxy S9 smarthphone thanks to a circulating photo from a Reddit user. And although the validity of the post is yet to be confirmed, many of the people have decided to take the image as they see it.

Reddit user Minhvn recently published a photo of a person that is holding what seems to be the packaging for the latest Samsung phone, with the side that shows the devices specifications facing the camera. The identity of the person and how he managed to get hold of the box remains a mystery, but the details for the S9 have been left for the entire world to see.

Based on the box, the Galaxy S9 will come with a 5.8inch full rectangle screen, much like its predecessor. It also comes with a "Super Speed" 12 mega-pixel camera with a "Super Slow-Mo" function. It will also have a built-in storage of 64 gigabytes (GB)

The phone will have IP68 level resistance, meaning that the phone will be highly resistant to dust and dirt, and can withstand being submerged 1.5 meters underwater for up to 30 minutes.

The packaging also indicates that the phone will have stereo speakers and will include FM radio tuning as posted in the news website BGR. It will also support wireless charging, provided that the user has secured a charging pad.

Possibly the most noteworthy item in the list is the Iris scanner, and assuming that the image is genuine, will reveal that Samsung is planning to level up their security features in order to gain equal footing with the iPhone's facial recognition feature.

The inquirer said in a recent report that the Samsung Galaxy S9's price is expected to float at around £689 and £779, and will be launched officially during the Mobile World Congress in February, where the exact price and release date of the phone will be announced.
