Samsung Galaxy S7 release date March 11?

While its current premium flagship, the Galaxy S6 lineup, is barely a year old, it is already being speculated that Samsung might be planning an early 2016 release for its follow-up, the Galaxy S7. The latest supposed leak pegged the release of the next-gen premium smartphone to be in March.

According to Droid-Life, a tweet from noted tipster Evan Blass mentioned that the Galaxy S7 lineup might be released on March 11. Reportedly, Blass announced, "Starting to look like a Friday, March 11th Galaxy release in the U.S."

While there have been no confirmed details about the Galaxy S7 release date up to now, IB Times said that the tipster has been known to provide confirmed leaks and advanced details about tech products in the past. In addition, the industry follower mentioned that an early March global release for the Galaxy S7 series dovetails with previous speculations of Samsung unveiling the upcoming flagship at this year's Mobile World Congress. Usually, release of premium flagships are dated weeks after products are unveiled at events.

The Mobile World Congress is scheduled on Feb. 22 to 25 in Barcelona, Spain.

Meanwhile, as with the release date, the tech specs and features of the upcoming Galaxy S7 lineup have yet to be confirmed. However, there are a number of speculations on how the Galaxy S7 lineup will be different from its predecessors. According to Forbes, some of the most noted supposed features of the Samsung Galaxy S7 are the return of an IP6X-rated build, which was present in the Galaxy S5 but removed for the Galaxy S6; the addition of expandable storage of up to 200 GB via microSD support; and a massive increase in battery capacity.

Phone Arena added that based on recent leaks, fans might also expect a 5.1-inch display with 1440p resolution, an improved 12-MP BRITECELL camera assembly, and 4 GB of RAM for at least two processor versions.
