Samsung is bringing an exciting change to the next Galaxy Note iteration. Rumors are rife that the Galaxy Note 9 will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, embedding the biometric technology right under the all-screen display. Users are expected to welcome this change, as Galaxy S8 and Note 8 users complained about the current odd location of the fingerprint scanner.
According to the latest reports, Samsung is looking into the public's demand to bring the fingerprint reader back to the front display. To note, the South Korean tech giant decided to transfer the fingerprint scanner's location to the rear panel, or just below the camera module of their present flagship devices. The Galaxy S8 and Note 8 now have the Infinite Display, which maximizes the viewing screen up to the edges. However, the home button, in which the fingerprint reader was previously mounted, had to be removed to feature an all-screen design.
Unfortunately for Samsung, their decision to transfer the fingerprint reader to the back was met negatively by the users. With this, the company is said to incorporate a new technology so that the biometric reader can return to the front panel without affecting their Infinite Display signature. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Samsung will come up with an in-display reader by the second half of 2018. This optical fingerprint reader may be developed just in time before the launch of the Galaxy Note 9.
In other news, it is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will boast an impressive improvement in the camera department. As reported by Phone Arena, the next-generation premium phablet will receive a whopping 24-megapixel camera sensor. This is a great leap when compared to the current shooter capabilities of the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, which will allow users to take high-quality snaps with sharper colors, even in low-light environment.
Also worth noting is the company's recent unveiling of their new 12-megapixel image sensor with a slimmer built. This technology makes use of Dual Pixel to attain depth of field images in Portrait Mode. The advantage will be the absence of a secondary lens, thus the camera profile will be much smaller compared to the ones used in Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
