Some fans are keenly waiting for Samsung's premium flagship iterations rumored to come out this year, particularly the Galaxy S7. However, the South Korea-based company will also launch new editions in its Galaxy A series.

However, although the new 2016 versions come with upgraded specs, not included in these iterations' new features is the current version of Google's mobile OS, the Android Marshmallow platform.

According to CNET, the 2016 editions of Samsung's Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7 are all running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of their boxes. While Samsung did not comment on why they have decided against the newer Android 6.0 platform, the industry follower said that fans are hoping that Samsung will roll out the much-needed platform updates soon.

The industry follower also listed down the specs of the three iterations under the Galaxy A lineup. The smallest and most basic of the 2016 editions is the Galaxy A3, having a 4.7-inch display with 1280 x 720 resolution, a quad-core processor, and 1.5 GB of RAM. The 2016 Galaxy A3 also packs a 2,300-mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A5 features a 5.2-inch, 1080p display, also with a quad-core processor (but faster at 1.6 GHz), and a 2-GB RAM. The largest of the series, the Galaxy A7, has a 5.5-inch, 1080p display with 3 GB of RAM, along with a 3,300-mAh battery and Samsung Pay support.

GSM Arena reports that Samsung also integrated new features into the 2016 Galaxy A series phones. They will get 11 exclusive TouchWiz themes, and the new features will also come out with the upcoming Galaxy A9. Owners of compatible phones can get the exclusive TouchWiz themes directly from the Samsung Theme Store.
