The latest trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" hints that there will be flashbacks to further establish the father–daughter relationship between Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Galen (Mads Mikkelsen). Mikkelsen has since indicated that this is indeed the case, and the actor revealed there will be multiple flashbacks.

Speaking to GQ Magazine (via 411 Mania), Mikkelsen revealed that he had filmed scenes with Felicity, but he had also done scenes where the character of Jyn Erso was portrayed by a younger actress. One of these scenes was shown in the trailer, but he reveals that there are a few more than what fans expected.

"I worked a few days with Felicity Jones and she is a wonderful actress. I worked with Jyn at three stages, and three different ages, so there was a little kid that was four, one that was eight, and then there was Felicity. So that was wonderful," he explained.

According to Cinema Blend, it is indicated that Galen will be one of the lead scientists responsible for making the Death Star and that Jyn was recruited by the Rebel Alliance because her relationship with her father may be of use in getting the Death Star plans.

According to the report, the film could jump back and forth between the film's present and past in order to further build the relationship between father and daughter. Something similar was done with "Man of Steel," where Superman's (Henry Cavill) relationship with his father was revealed in flashbacks in order to fully flesh out who Superman was in the present.

It is uncertain at this point how many flashback sequences will be included, but given that there are two actresses portraying Jyn Erso, it is possible that there will be at least two or three of them in the film.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" opens in theaters on Dec. 16.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
