Robin Williams 'The Crazy Ones' cancelled in May; Cast tributes to late actor

Hollywood actor and comedian Robin Williams has passed away. The cause of death is suicide driven by deep depression. As the investigation of his death continues, it is said that the recent cancellation of his TV series "The Crazy Ones" added to his misery.

The CBS sitcom "The Crazy Ones" was cancelled back in May. It only last for one season with 22 episodes. The entire cast of the show was shocked by their co-actor's untimely death and they've sent out their messages to Williams in social media and a magazine interview.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was deeply saddened by the passing of her Uncle Robin. She told People Magazine, "My life is a better place because I knew Robin Williams. To my children, he was Uncle Robin, to everyone he worked with, he was the best boss anyone had ever known, and to me he was not just an inspiration but he was the father I had always dreamed of having. There are not enough adjectives to describe the light he was, to anyone that ever had the pleasure to meet him. I will miss him every day, but I know the memory of him will live on. And to his family, I thank them for letting us know him and seeing the joy they brought him. Us crazy ones love you."

Creator of the show David E. Kelley told People: "The talent was legendary. But equally inspiring, perhaps more so, was his kindness and humanity. A gentle soul who touched us all. A very special man, and our hearts are broken."

James Wolk took to Twitter to share a photo of him with Williams wearing matching baseball shirts.

Tiya Sicar also posted a photo of Williams on Instagram and captioned it: "That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.' I had the immense honor of working (though briefly) with #RobinWilliams– one of my acting heroes. I wish I had had the guts then to tell him that I consider his work in Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting to be some of the finest acting I've ever seen. Or hell, that's ever been done. He was a singular talent and a sweet, gentle soul to boot. I hope he can now find even a fraction of the joy he's brought to this world. I imagine that would still be a whole hell of a lot."

Josh Groban, despite only appearing in two episodes of the show, tweeted "Stunned. Devastated. I treasure my time with him. Robin was and will always be an original and a brilliant kind soul."

A source close to the show shared, "He was so benevolent. He would appreciate everyone else's work. He was the first one to say how incredible Sarah and [costar] Jimmy Wolk were. He had affection for everyone. He made sure everyone knew he was part of a team. Who does that? When you're Robin you don't have to do that."

"The Crazy Ones" were cancelled after one season because the show was too expensive to make and the first season ratings weren't enough to keep the show alive, according to TV Series Finale.
