The past episodes have been very stressful for the lead players of the CW's teen series "Riverdale" season 2. Based on the latest promo teasers, it looks like Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) and Betty Cooper(Lili Reinhart) would like to take a short break from all the drama in Riverdale as the gang is headed to a secluded lake house by the woods. Even in a nice and quiet retreat, trouble has a way to find them, not to mention a shocking partner switching with Veronica and Jughead sharing an intimate kiss in the pool.
"Riverdale" season 2 episode 14, titled "The Hills Have Eyes," will see Archie, Veronica, Betty and Jughead getting cozy in the Lodge family's retreat house. According to the episode synopsis, Veronica's father, Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos), will suggest to her daughter to take a weekend off together with Archie in the lake house. With this offer, Veronica will invite the other couple, Betty and Jughead, to join them. However, knowing how things work in this show, there might be a few unpleasant surprises in store for them.
It appears that Jughead has other motivations for accepting Veronica's invitation. He has always been suspicious about the Lodge family, particularly Hiram, and going to the weekend retreat would give him an opportunity to get information straight from Hiram's daughter. There is no guarantee that Jughead will be able to expose Hiram's plans for Riverdale by hanging out with Veronica, but in episode 14, the two will get a little too close as they lock lips in the pool, and right in front of Archie and Betty.
The steamy scene of Veronica and Jughead as seen in the episode 14 teaser may not be a big deal, as the two could only be goofing around. Nevertheless, Archie and Betty are stunned to see their respective partners sharing a passionate kiss. The latter might be the one most affected by this sight, as Betty's alter-ego will mark her return in "Riverdale" season 2. Judging by the promo teaser, it looks like Dark Betty wishes to punish Jughead for what he has done.
Somewhere near the cabin, two mysterious men are seen having a fight in the episode 14 trailer, and there is a chance that this incident will involve Archie and the gang. Meanwhile, the tension continues to build up back in Riverdale as Josie (Ashleigh Murray) may have told a secret to Kevin (Casey Cott) that she should have just kept.
"Riverdale" season 2 will come out of its month-long hiatus after the 2018 Winter Olympics. Episode 14 will air on March 7th at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
