Review: Jeremy Camp's We Cry Out

Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning worship artist Jeremy Camp comes up trumps once again with his sixth studio album, We Cry Out.

The wonderfully crafted 12 track album features input from other top-notch artists, including Tim Hughes on “Jesus Saves”, Brenton Brown with “Everlasting God”, Matt Redman “Never Let Go” and the wonderful “Overcome” by Desperation Band.

The two original songs by Jeremy Camp on the album are “Unrestrained” and “King Jesus”, both of which are noteworthy.

“Unrestrained” sings of that awareness all believers have of needing to leave behind everything that is not of God and know God even more than we presently do. This is understated worship and penitence at its best - “Take this selfish heart of mine, I want to give it all, I’ve wasted too much time”.

With “Overcome” get ready to throw your hands up in the air for some honest worship – the kind that Jeremy Camp always delivers best. This track isn’t about tearing-the-house-down worship but rather those eyes closed, soulful moments of praise that take us to the place where we see only Jesus and everything he did for us – “Awesome and great is your name, you overcame” – indeed!

Overall it’s a great worship album that will inspire you to take out the gratitude and praise you may have buried deep in your heart beneath the layers of life and worry we all get caught in sometimes.
If you’re looking to get back to the basics then this is a good place to start.
