After several weeks of keeping mum about the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption" sequel, Rockstar Games finally released a new trailer for the much-awaited Old West game title.

Based on the details laid out by the teaser video, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will actually serve more as a prequel instead of a real sequel, confirming the previous speculations about the game's storyline. Being a prequel, the latest "Red Dead Redemption 2" trailer also brings back two familiar faces from the original title, namely John Marston and Dutch van der Linde.

As reported by Polygon, the latest trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2" is the second over-all released by Rockstar Games, following the game's official announcement last year. While the first teaser was a bit vague, the second trailer gave everything players wanted to know about the plotline. "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be focused on Dutch van der Linde and a new character named Arthur Morgan, two outlaws that are trying to survive in the Wild West as other groups challenge their own criminal empire.

The "Red Dead Redemption 2" trailer implied that the game will recount the struggles of van der Linde and his gang before their rise in the original "Red Dead Redemption." Multiple scenes of van der Linde were featured in the trailer, which indicate that his role in the upcoming video game will be more prominent.

Also shown in the trailer is the original game's primary character, John Martson, but his role in the prequel will be different compared to the original, where Martson is hunting down van der Linde and another gangster, Bill Williamson. "Red Dead Redemption 2" will show the two characters having a smooth relationship in the gang before everything went haywire. The first game provided hints on how the van der Linde gang was disbanded, but in
"Red Dead Redemption 2," fans will be able to see the events leading to it in detail.

Rockstar Games first announced the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" in fall 2016. For some reason, the game studio revealed in May this year that the title is delayed until spring 2018.
