'PUBG' news: Gamespot gives away 100 free 'PUBG' codes for Xbox One

Gamespot gave away 100 'PUBG' codes for free for the Xbox One on Dec. 14. Facebook/PlayerUnknown's Battleground

Gamespot has given away 100 codes "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds," as well as a grand prize – a loot box containing "PUBG" related goodies.

One hundred lucky gamers were chosen by Gamespot on Thursday, Dec.14, to receive a free "PUBG" code for the Xbox One. Additionally, one lucky player received a "Grand Prize Pack" containing "PUBG" related merchandise.

The lucky "PUBG" grand prize winner received a cast-iron frying pan which can be found in the game, as well as a ski mask, a map of Erangel, and a customized Xbox One controller. The giveaway was open to all gamers interested worldwide.

Microsoft also gave "PUBG" giveaways earlier this month. The software giant dropped real life "PUBG" supply crates in Australia as a part of their "PUBG" promotions.

As previously reported, Microsoft dropped real life "PUBG" supply crates across three cities in Australia: Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. There were no exact spots where the crates were dropped, but Microsoft gave hints on their Microsoft Xbox ANZ Facebook page.

The said supply drops contained Xbox One consoles, Elite Xbox One controllers, "PUBG" codes, as well as Xbox Live codes to play the game. Players on the hunt for the "PUBG" supply crates were required passcodes (which was also found on the Microsoft ANZ Facebook page) to give to the on-site Xbox staff.

"PUBG" took the world by storm when it was released as an early access game on Steam in March. Since then, "PUBG" has been Steam's most played game, peaking at over two million players. Because of "PUBG's" worldwide fame, an Xbox One version was released on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

During the Paris Games week, "PUBG" developer Bluehole announced that the game is on track on working with the 1.0 PC version of the game. "PUBG 1.0" is expected to be released for PC before 2017 ends.
