Many tech enthusiasts are waiting for the arrival of Project Fi Moto X4 this October, although it appears that they need to be more patient until they finally get the first Android One mobile device in their hands. Google has recently notified the people who made their pre-orders on the Project Fi handset that the Moto X4 will ship on a later date.
As reported by Engadget, Google has noted a production delay for the Project Fi Moto X4. Thus, the device is now expected to hit the market shelves from Oct. 18 to 25. Prior to Google's announcement through e-mail, the Project Fi Moto X4 was supposed to arrive this week for those who reserved their units in advance. It is not specified what kind of production issues that Google has encountered, but the problem was enough to cause around one to two weeks delay in shipment.
There is a lot of reason for the public to line up for the Project Fi Moto X4. The smartphone under the Motorola label is the first non-Google device to be included in Google's mobile virtual network system, not to mention the Moto X4 being the first Android One device to arrive in the U.S. To note, the Android One is the search engine giant's' own series of budget smartphones, according to 9to5Google.
The Project Fi Moto X4, even as a low-cost handset, is packed with impressive specs to cater the regular needs of a mobile user. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 processor with RAM options of 3GB and 4GB, depending on the available phone variants in a region. The device sports a 5.2-inch full HD display and a 16MP front-facing camera. The Project Fi Moto X4 received an IP68 rating on water resistance.
Compared to other Project Fi devices announced by Google, the Moto X4 is the most affordable one with its $400 price tag. The most expensive Fi handsets launched by Google for the past two years were the Pixel and Pixel 2. It is not surprising if many people would want to own a Moto X4, given the device features and the perks of Project Fi. A Fi device allows users to connect to wireless networks faster and more efficient, plus access to three 4G LTE networks in the U.S. and free international data roaming.
