Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wedding news: Experts say Kate Middleton will not be a bridesmaid

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got engaged, many have become very excited about their upcoming royal wedding in May 2018. Along with that announcement, fans are wondering if the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, could be the bridesmaid at the most-awaited nuptials.

According to reports, author Marlene Koenig explains that Kate is not likely to be a bridesmaid at the wedding of Harry and Meghan. The Duchess might not even attend the bridal party.

Koenig said that Kate barely knows Meghan. Aside from that, Kate is already married, which does not qualify her to be a bridesmaid or even as a maid of honor. These roles are traditionally given to single ladies. Hence, the only role that would fit Kate is to be a Matron of Honor. However, this is also not possible since she did not even do that at the wedding of her sister, Pippa Middleton.

"For another, she is the future queen consort when William becomes king after his father, and would unlikely be an attending person to another royal bride," Koenig explained.

As for Prince George and Princess Charlotte, it is very likely that they will get the roles as page boy and bridesmaid, respectively. Meghan's best friend, Jessica Mulroney, who helped her choose her wedding dress, will no doubt play an important role in the wedding. Aside from that, the daughters of her friend Benita Litt will probably be flower girls since Meghan calls them as her "fairy goddaughters". Other members of the bridal entourage are not yet revealed as of this writing.

The couple's engagement was announced on Twitter by Clarence House, the London residence of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. The only information released so far is the possible month of the wedding and its location. It will take place in spring 2018 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The Windsor Castle is the same place where Prince Harry was christened.
