PlayStation Plus September 2016 free games list predictions: 'Watch Dogs' to be added ahead of 'Watch Dogs 2's November release?

Although the current list of free games in the PS Plus program is still active, fans already speculate on next month's roster. Reportedly, as preparation for its sequel, the original triple-A title "Watch Dogs" may be part of the list.

According to The Bitbag, "Watch Dogs" may be available via the program next month since most PS Plus members will prefer the triple-A classic to refresh themselves with the story before "Watch Dogs 2" comes out on Nov. 15.

In addition, having a major classic as part of the September list will take the edge off supposed disappointment from players on the current August lineup.

When the August lineup was announced, some PS Plus members were not satisfied with the games list. The PS Plus program has previously rolled out its monthly free games list with a roster of both classic and major games across Sony platforms. However, recent releases for the free games roster only saw some regular classic titles together with indie releases, particularly for the PS4. Some observers have even surmised that with the way the current lineup is being set up, the PS Plus program is now leagues behind its rival, Microsoft's Xbox Games with Gold. The Microsoft consoles saw constant flux of triple-A titles for the Xbox 360. Coupled with the backwards compatibility feature, Xbox One players also get to enjoy more games than its current-gen Sony console counterpart.

Meanwhile, an inadvertent mistake continues to fuel dissatisfaction with the PS Plus service. PlayStation Europe has recently owned up to an error in the August PS Plus lineup, since it was found out that in the current list, "Retro/Grade" is already included in the free games lineup, having been added four years ago. The game has been replaced since with "Tom Clancy's EndWar."
