PlayStation Plus free games September 2016: tipped to include AAA titles like 'Watch Dogs'; Membership price hike

The list of free games for PlayStation Plus members this August has reportedly been a little disappointing due to its focus on small indie titles. According to Vine Report, this will change in September as PlayStation Plus members can look forward to receiving several AAA titles instead.

According to the report, "Watch Dogs" and "Killzone Shadow Fall" are both rumored to be offered this September. The former is an open-world sandbox game where players can freely roam the city of Chicago, taking control of a hacker while the latter is a first-person shooter and is a direct sequel to "Killzone 3" despite being the sixth entry in the franchise.

PlayStation Universe has also cleared the rumors that the game "DOGOS" might be offered this September as well. In the report, the game's developer OPQM has stepped forward to deny the rumors and confirms that it will launch this Sept. 6 at full price.

The developers also point out how these rumors could be damaging for the game's profit given how such rumors would make gamers want to download it for free right after it released instead of buying it and supporting the developers.

In a report from PlayStation Lifestyle it has also been pointed out that membership fees for PlayStation Plus are getting increased. In the United States the annual subscription will go from $49.99 to $59.99, 3-month subscription goes up from $17.99 to $24.99. 1-month subscription will stay at $9.99. Prices are different for Canadian subscribers.

"If you are a current member, the new prices will take effect if your membership renews on or after this date. If you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before September 22 2016," reads the official statement from Sony.

Vine Report reveals that this is the first time the subscription has ever raised its fees in the six years that it has been available.
