Pixel 2 XL news: some models of the phone have better display and do not have the blue color shift issue

Google's current generation flagship smartphone Pixel 2 XL is not without its shortcomings. Upon launch, it has been plagued with various issues, and one of the most glaring is the blue color shift on its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. However, reports from users say that not all Pixel 2 XL screens have this problem, and some actually have warmer displays that are easier on the eyes.

A YouTube video by user Jerome Ortega asked if all Pixel 2 XLs have the blue color shift that becomes a problematic issue on the phones' displays. In the video, he compared an new Pixel 2 XL with an older one and found out that the newer phone has less color shifting than the older item.

This was noticed by media outlets like The Verge, who in turn compared newer Pixel 2 XLs with their older ones. They, too, found out that the newer items do not exhibit color shift as much as the older ones.

Google has not commented on the reasons why some Pixel 2 XLs just have much better displays than others. It most likely is not about the screen manufacturer, as all phones tested so far possess the same OLED screens made by LG. Neither is it about the time of manufacture; some phones made in October 2017 have better displays than ones made in December of the same year.

In any case, it seems that there is no consistent quality release on Google's current generation flagship phone. This is a reflection of how there were many issues on the phone at launch, with buyers complaining that their phones have problems out of the box.

Other than the flawed displays, some Pixel 2 XLs shipped without a working operating system. Even some models made it out of the company and into the market even if they failed a quality check and exhibited factory defects.
