The Barden Bellas' return on the big screen for "Pitch Perfect 2" brought Universal Pictures over $250 million in box office sales against a $29 million budget, which is why the film studio is ready to bring them back for a third film.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that scriptwriter Kay Cannon, who wrote the screenplay for the first two films, agreed to write the script for "Pitch Perfect 3." However, it seems like Cannon is, so far, the only one from the original production on board the upcoming project. There is no news yet that could confirm the return of actress Elizabeth Banks in the director's chair after she helmed the second installment in the musical franchise.

The cast for "Pitch Perfect 3" is still unannounced at the moment, although Collider reported back in April that Rebel Wilson has already signed on to reprise her role as witty soloist Fat Amy.

It would be a challenge for the next film to bring back Beca (Anna Kendrick), Fat Amy, and the rest of the acapella choir together, since most of them graduated from college in "Pitch Perfect 2." Also, the production has to work hard if they want to negotiate with the cast to return, since both Kendrick and Wilson allegedly asked to get paid $2 million each for the recently released movie. It means that the film outfit needs to shell out more to be able to bring back the breakout stars for the next film.

But if Beca will not return to lead the Barden Bellas in the upcoming movie, it's possible that new legacy Bella Emily Junk will take over her place as the new leader in the next film. Emily is portrayed by actress Hailee Steinfield.

At the moment, there is no report yet about the official release date of "Pitch Perfect 3."
