Peter Tatchell to join debate on same-sex therapy

A debate is to take place in the Houses of Parliament this week on the legitimacy of sexual reorientation therapy.

The debate will be joined by gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and sexual reorientation therapy advocate Dr Mike Davidson.

Dr Davidson, who heads the Core Issues Trust, is subject to an inquiry by his professional body, the British Psychodrama Association (BPA).

The inquiry, to be held next month, follows his appearance on a BBC radio show last year in which he spoke in favour of therapy for those experiencing unwanted same-sex attraction.

The BPA decided to launch an inquiry after a complaint was made asserting that Dr Davidson's views contravene the organisation's policies.

The debate takes place at 10:30am on Wednesday in Committee Room 11.
