Pastor Saeed Abedini grateful for doctor's check-up in U.S., recalls being beaten up in Iran prison in front of his mother

There are a lot of things that Americans take for granted, such as the ease of visiting a doctor for a check-up. Pastor Saeed Abedini, who languished in a prison cell in Iran for more than three years, never appreciated a doctor's appointment more than he did now.

"Today was a big celebration for me. My second miracle and answer to our prayers after my freedom from prison. I was at the hospital with my father and my sister Zeebandeh Abedini for most of the day getting a check-up and running tests," he shares on his Facebook page.

Abedini notes that "most people dread going to the hospital, but when you have been imprisoned and have no access to a doctor, you actually get excited about seeing doctors and finding out if you are healthy."

What's worse about being in prison in Iran, says Abedini, is that his jailers constantly beat him up. "It was so opposite of my experience at the hospital in Iran," he says. "They beat me in front of my mother, picked me up by my arms and legs and threw me to the car. Just one more reason why I love the United States."

The pastor shares that he has "a few physical issues to get healed," but he is assured in the fact that "God is able and I trust him to heal my body."

"I know you are also praising God with me that here in America we have wonderful doctors and hospitals," he adds.

Abedini is also praying for emotional healing for him and his wife Naghmeh since they are still going through marital issues related to his alleged sexual abuse. Naghmeh claimed that her husband sexually abused her, but Abedini has denied her accusations. Both have requested for privacy regarding the matter.
