Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship and his wife Cathe recalled their son Christopher on his eighth death anniversary, saying they have many more tears to shed because of his passing.

Christopher passed away on July 24, 2008 following a vehicular accident. He was on his way to Harvest Church in Riverside, California when his car crashed into the back of a Caltrans truck on the eastbound 91 Freeway, according to The Christian Post. He had been working for his parents' church for three years when God took him to heaven.

On his Facebook page, Greg posted his wife's message accompanied by a tranquil picture of waves. Greg and Cathe are still torn because Christopher is gone, but they will always be thankful to the people who have surrounded them with love and care.

"I want to write something to all who have walked with me on the long journey," Cathe's message reads. "Thank you to the ones who stayed. To you who listened. Who watched me cry awkward tears. To you who let me do most of the talking. Who didn't tell me I should look on the bright side by saying, 'Well at least you have his children still.' Who sat with me in church. Who held my hand. Who didn't leave me to stand alone in a crowd who walked by my side and ran interference."

There are so many things Cathe and her husband are grateful for despite their son's death. They are grateful that their friends did not ask them to relive the painful scene of Christopher's accident, and did not write meaningless things just to comfort them. A lot of people did not wait for them to call for help, but simply appeared during their time of need.

"I see your faces, some of you whom I didn't even know that well. To you who were brave enough to enter in. Who wrote notes ...and still write notes. Who helped with the almost impossible task of choosing a casket, a grave site. You gave of your selves, gave of your time, gave where it was needed most. Thank you," Cathe says.
