'Outlander' season 2 premiere spoilers: Sophie Turner eyed to play Claire and Jamie's daughter?

Is a "Game of Thrones" actress about to make the leap to "Outlander"? There are rumors saying Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the HBO series, is being eyed to play Brianna on the Starz show. The rumors started circulating when "Outlander" star Sam Heughan retweeted a post by The Anglophile Channel, which read, "If she wasn't so busy with #GameOfThrones would Sophie Turner make a good #BriannaFraser? She is so striking!"

It seems that Heughan approves of Turner playing the part of his daughter in the series. As earlier reported, season 2 will introduce Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's daughter and that fans will get to see Brianna as a grownup. Turner certainly fits the bill with regard to the character's appearance as Brianna is described as tall with red hair and slightly slanted blue eyes.

When first introduced in the "Outlander" novels by Diana Gabaldon, Brianna, or Bree, is a girl of 19 who was raised in the U.S. by Frank Randall and Claire. Frank came to see the girl as his own even though he knew that she was fathered by another man. Bree grew up to resemble Jamie in appearance and she has an aptitude for drawing and painting. She also has a brilliant mind and shares her biological father's skills in hunting.

Last month, series creator Ronald Moore took to Twitter to participate in a Q&A about the show, where he confirmed that casting for Brianna "is underway". International Business Times reports that audition tapes of actors wanting to play Brianna have surfaced online, and the actresses are seen enacting scenes from the novels, such as the scene where Claire is talking to Bree about her father, saying that he had red hair just like hers.

Season 2 of "Outlander" is slated to premiere in spring 2016.
