Chinese tech company Oppo, which is along the same lines as its smartphone manufacturing rival Xiaomi when it comes to releasing handsets sporting a competitive price tag, is rumored to be working on a smartwatch that has the capability to reach the 100 percent charge mark after being plugged in for just 5 minutes.

According to Digital Trends, the news of the wearable originated from Chinese social network Weibo, which according to the website, displayed a picture of the wearable and revealed its ultra-fast charging capability. The smartwatch appears to be sporting a sleek metal design with a round watch face, as well as extremely thin bezels and three physical buttons present on the right of the watch's screen. Rumor concerning the gadget's ability to charge in 5 minutes is most likely stemming up from the super-fast VOOC rapid charging feature that is present in Oppo devices such as the N3 and R5.

However, the aforementioned smartphones still require few hours before they reach their complete maximum battery level. Currently, it has not been confirmed whether or not the smartwatch will be running Google's Android Wear platform but if this news does get confirmed regarding the tech giant's operating system, then its total charging time may have been exaggerated greatly. This is because wearables like the Moto 360, which are also running the tech giant's customized platform, require to be charged on a daily basis in order to prevent users from walking around with a powered down device.

According to Techradar, the Oppo smartwatch is expected to be released alongside the Chinese tech company's upcoming smartphone, the Find 9. The Find 9 will be the company's flagship device and will most likely be running Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 3 GB of RAM and a Quad HD display (2560 x 1440p).
