The Chinese smartphone startup firm OnePlus that was responsible for releasing one of the most cost-effective smartphones of all times, OnePlus One, is expected to raise the bar with the release of its successor, OnePlus Two. OnePlus One carried a starting price tag of $299 for the 16 GB model, and the company will be looking to maintain that price with the official release of OnePlus Two. However, in addition to its upcoming flagship device, the company is also expected to release a cheaper smartphone.

According to PhoneArena, OnePlus CEO, Carl Pei had stated earlier that in 2015, two handsets were going to be released by the company. One would be the successor of OnePlus One and the other would be targeted to a different audience. While some consumers purchase mobile devices according to their price/performance ratio, and there are those who purchase them due to their aesthetically appealing elements. While the company has not confirmed the following, but it is possible that the cheaper version could be paying close attention to design and details rather than hardware specifications.

As for OnePlus Two, it is expected that the smartphone will be featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810, along with 4 GB of RAM and a very large battery. The Snapdragon 810 will comprise up of the following octa-core package:

  • 2 GHz ARM Cortex-A57 quad-core
  • 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 quad-core

ARM's Cortex-A57's performance delivery is well known, but the CPU is also famous for consuming a lot of battery power compared to the lesser performing chip, Cortex-A53. Knowing full well what advantages and disadvantages and brought to the table by the processor, OnePlus will no doubt be looking to incorporate a large battery, as well as a microSD slot, which was a feature void on OnePlus One. As for the release date of both handsets, consumers should expect them around Q3, 2015.
