Since the OnePlus 5 launch this June, there have been rumors about the smartphone maker's next flagship device. Tech enthusiasts debate if the public will see a whole new model, OnePlus 6, or if another iterative upgrade is coming up, just like the OnePlus 3T. As per the latest leak, it appears that the OnePlus 5T will soon be up, boasting an edge-to-edge screen display.
The ever-reliable tech leaker Evan Blass from Venture Beat posted the leaked render of the OnePlus 5T. The image only shows the top half portion of the handset, but it is enough to show what is new with the iterative OnePlus 5 upgrade. The most notable feature of the OnePlus 5T is an almost edge-to-edge screen that is made to look even classier by the slimmer bezels.
With the OnePlus 5T leak showing an all-screen front display, the upcoming smartphone is now expected to go with the trend of premium mobile devices optimizing the screen view. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone X also sport a front display entirely wrapped by the screen. Although, it is not confirmed if the OnePlus 5T will also lose the home button given that the leaked render does not show the lower half. Another thing worth noting from the leak is that the OnePlus 5T has the iPhone 8's 2.5D curved glass, The Verge reported.
Previous OnePlus 5T leaks already revealed that the device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the same mobile chipset used by the current OnePlus 5 handset. The processor will be supported by Adreno 540 GPU and 8GB RAM. The camera module will also come an impressive 20MP lens for the front and rear.
OnePlus has not yet confirmed the arrival of the OnePlus 5T, although reports of OnePlus 5 stock shortage in the U.S. and U.K. are seen as evidence that a new smartphone is coming up. Retailers in the U.S. are said to not have any OnePlus 5 variants available, while the OnePlus 5 gold variant is the only one remaining in the U.K. markets.
As OnePlus is seemingly clearing the shelves with the current OnePlus 5 models, it is becoming more likely that the OnePlus 5T will hit the markets soon. Rumor has it that the OnePlus 5T will arrive this November, as an insider claims that a keynote event will be held on Nov. 16 to officially launch the device.
