NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti release date, specs, news: next graphics card coming at CES 2017?

NVIDIA has already launched several new graphics cards this year, but they are still speculated to launch something new by early next year. The popular rumor is that NVIDIA will be present during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) taking place in January 2017 and that they will launch the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti.

According to Game N Guide, CES is normally a platform for consumer appliances and not for computer components. That may change next year as both AMD and NVIDIA are rumored to launch new graphic cards, with NVIDIA aiming to unveil the GTX 1080 Ti, a more affordable GPU card that is just slightly less powerful than their own Titan X.

The GTX 1080 Ti will have 12 GB GDDR5X memory and 10 Gbps memory speed. Just like the Titan X, it will have 480 GB per second bandwidth. However, it will only have 3328 CUDA cores and 10.8 Teraflops compared to the Titan X's 3584 CUDA cores and 11 Teraflops.

Given that the GTX 1080 Ti is only slightly less powerful than the Titan X, it is likely going to be capable of running high-end video games such as "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" at the highest settings and still get a consistent framerate. No official benchmark test has been conducted yet.

No official price has been released yet, although according to WCCFTech it is likely to start between $700 and $800 for the base version, and the upper tier versions may cost close to $1,000. This is still cheaper than the Titan X, which starts at around $1,200 or $1,400.

AMD is also going to start releasing their Vega 10 graphic cards during CES, which is likely why NVIDIA is taking the opportunity to launch their own GPU card in order to compete with the competition. AMD released affordable video cards such as the AMD Radeon RX 460, and now, NVIDIA needs to cater to the same audience.
