The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is yet to be officially unveiled, but it is currently expected to launch during the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2017. This will be after the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti's launch later this year.
According to Chinese website Zol (via PC Gamer), NVIDIA will be launching the GTX 1080 Ti during the event even though CES is often delegated for consumer products. PC components are often not showcased as the event focuses on cars, appliances, and other home products.
PC Gamer points out that this would make sense given that the release window for the GTX 1080 Ti is very narrow. AMD, NVIDIA's main competitor, is launching the Vega 10 GPU, and NVIDIA itself is already launching the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti. The only open period in between all these releases is around January and February next year.
When it does launch, it is expected that it would use the same GP102 Pascal architecture of the Titan X and that the GPU will sport 26 SMs and 3,328 CUDA cores. It will have 12GB GDDR5X on-board memory, and its total clock speed is expected to run at 1,503 MHz, but it can be boosted up to 1,623 MHz.
This will make it comparable to the Titan X which has 28 SMs and 3,548 CUDA cores. The Titan X has 12 GB DDR5X memory and clock speed of 1,417 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1,531 MHz.
Since the GTX 1080 Ti is relatively as powerful as the Titan X, it is expected to cost around $700 to $800. In comparison, the Titan X costs $1,200 upon release, and the current GTX 1080 costs just above $600. It is also possible that further improvements will make the GTX 1080 Ti cost as much as $1,200 or more, depending on what features it gets.
NVIDIA has yet to confirm if the information regarding the GTX 1080 Ti's specs and its release date are true.
