North Korea demands the return of its 12 employees in South Korea for family reunion talks to resume

North Korea demands the return of its 12 citizens who defected to South Korea in 2016. The North stated that family reunion talks will only resume after all defectors are back home.

This is not the first time Pyongyang raised this condition. North Korea led by Kim Jong Un already laid out the demand back in June last year. The return of the dozen restaurant workers was confirmed to be a precondition for the reunion talks to get back on track according to reports.

The condition was placed during an inter-Korea talks between the divided countries. South Korea is in the middle of analyzing the demand from the Hermit country. The South is hoping to allow families separated during the North Korean war back in 1950-1953 to reunite.

According to reports, Pyongyang is stating that the 12 North Korean employees were abducted by a spy from Seoul after they were tricked by their own manager.

The news about the 12 defectors is not the only story about North Korea that has been making headlines. The rogue country expressed its interest to participate in the upcoming Winter Olympics to be held at Pyeongchang, South Korea. The upcoming prestigious sports tourney will commence on Feb. 9 until Feb. 25.

A final agreement between the North and the South is yet to be completed on how the two countries will push through. Representatives from each nation will once again meet on Wednesday in the village of Panmunjom in North Korea.

In other news concerning North Korea, the United States of America and Canada will host a North Korea nuclear summit in Vancouver today. Other allies will be involved in the said discussion to address the increasing tension in the Korean peninsula. The diplomats are expected to discuss sanctions for North Korea and its alarming nuclear program.
