HMD Global has not yet confirmed the development of Nokia 9, but the rumors are rife that the successor of this year's Nokia 8 will be out soon. The latest leaked renders of the next premium smartphone under the Nokia label revealed that Nokia 9 will feature a dual camera setup. The handset's front display will highlight reduced bezels for a wider screen view.

According to the latest report, HMD Global is currently preparing two new smartphones to be released early 2017, or possibly by the end of this year. One of these upcoming devices is the Nokia 9, which was recently spotted by OnLeaks with leaked 3D renders. The other handset rumored to launch in the coming months is Nokia 2, which will be included in HMD Global's low-end phone series.

It is rumored that the Nokia 9 will be less expensive than its predecessor. However, the Nokia 9 is still expected to be a high-end smartphone. Based on the leaked images, the Nokia 9 will come with a sleeker appearance, with the focus on the slimmer bezels. This should already be expected, as the leading smartphone makers have been starting a trend of minimizing the areas occupied by bezels on the front, like Samsung and LG.

Unfortunately, WCCFTech noted that the leaked Nokia 9 renders may be quite a letdown as far as a bezel-less design is concerned. The online publication noticed that the Nokia 9 does not have an edge-to-edge screen display, even as the device has very limited bezel on the sides.

Another factor giving the Nokia 9 a sleek effect is the absence of the 3.5mm headphone jack. To note, the first smartphone to get rid of the usual audio jack is Apple's iPhone 7 in 2016. With regards to the smartphone's camera department, the Nokia 9 will be second device made by HMD Global to receive ZEISS-powered dual lens camera, the first being the Nokia 8.

Specifically, the Nokia 9 will sport a primary 13MP RGB sensor, supported by optical image stabilization feature. The secondary image shooter will be a 13MP monochrome lens.
