The developer of "No Man's Sky" recently opened up about all the hype currently surrounding what is being billed as one of the most ambitious games to ever be released.

In an interview with The Guardian, Hello Games Creative Director Sean Murray said one of the most difficult things that he and the team have had to deal with is the massive hype building up around the game.

Murray said he is consistently reminded of the many games in the past that were preceded by a ton of hype only to immediately disappoint upon release, but he went on to say that they are actively taking steps to avoid such a failure.

According to Murray, the team has made a point of ensuring that what gameplay footage fans see of "No Man's Sky" is exactly what they will experience when the game is ready and available. Murray said they manage this by showing actual gameplay footage whenever the game is being showcased.

Murray also said that Sony, one of their publishing partners, offered to provide more funding so that the team at Hello Games could bring in more people to make "No Man's Sky" as good as it can be, but he said they made the choice to turn the offer down, according to Gamespot. He said it is more important to the team to make the game they always had in mind as opposed to one that may be bigger, but is no longer their vision.

According to Murray, there are around 18 quintillion planets already in the "No Man's Sky" universe, meaning players would realistically have no chance of seeing them all in one lifetime. The planets themselves are also populated by different kinds of life forms, giving players something to discover no matter where they end up.

"No Man's Sky" is due out later in the year, although no exact date has been provided.
