Nintendo was successful in launching the Switch console last year, introducing a worthy opponent in the game to be pitted against Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One. While the hybrid console boasts a bunch of new features, Nintendo's current offering still got a room for improvement. Per the latest reports, one of the things that the company will work on the Switch is doing improvements on the Joy-Con.

As reported by Den of Geek, the Nintendo Switch could have its updated Joy-Con soon, as evidenced by a new patent filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The leaked patent document suggests that Nintendo is currently developing a new model for the Switch Joy-Con, which appears to fix the current issues attributed with the console's left controller. Some users have already complained about the Joy-Con's synchronization problem, although Nintendo answered the issue by releasing a software update.

In spite of the series of software updates to fix the Joy-Con function, a hardware update could be the best way to solve the problem permanently. Fortunately, the patent leak suggests that Nintendo is on its way to release an improved Joy-Con for the Switch. Specifically, the new Joy-Con will change the position of the antenna, which is expected to enhance the controller's connection with the console.

Per Variety, the problem with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con has already existed since the console was first launched in March 2017. Users have often noted the left Joy-Con desyncing often, or worse, the controller will stop functioning when it is not connected to the console.

It was believed back then that the Joy-Con issue was only because of a manufacturing variation wherein the slight difference in antenna design introduces wireless interference for a limited number of Joy-Con units. Some suggestions were made to avoid having this experience, like keeping metallic objects away from the controllers or keeping a short gap between the console and the Joy-Con.

There is no word yet regarding the release date of the Nintendo Switch's new Joy-Con, and even Nintendo has yet to confirm that a new controller is underway.
