The New England Patriots and the Washington Redskins will face off on Sunday in Week 9 of the NFL 2015 regular season. The Patriots are still demolishing everything they come up against, and that does not bode well for a very fragile Redskins team which is lagging back on 3-4 at the moment. The Patriots have proven that they are diverse in the ways they can take apart opposition teams. They have changed the focus and method in the way they tackle each team week after week, and this week some analysts have predicted they will go with a strong ground game to punch holes in the Washington defense.
The Redskins have the undesirable task of trying to be the team to stop the Patriots from completing a perfect first half of the season. If New England manage to win today it would be the first time they have accomplished that since way back in 2007.
Bill Belichick has said, "I think our offensive line and coach Gug (offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo) and coach (offensive coordinator Josh) McDaniels have done a good job of again building our depth in preseason, where we had guys play multiple positions so that we can take seven linemen to a game and support all five positions, and be able to do different things offensively."
He added, "And the guys have worked very hard with each other and individually on their own fundamentals and techniques to be prepared and execute all the different plays and assignments, and block all the different types of players that we face."
Earlier this week on Thursday Night Football, the Cincinnati Bengals moved to 8-0 with ease as they demolished a hapless Cleveland Browns team 31-10.
The Browns had been able to keep in touch with the mighty Bengals until the half way stage of the game, and being just 14-10 down after the second period had given their fans hope of an upset.
But the second half saw the Bengals wake up and in particular the final quarter they piled on the pain for the Browns to hand them their seventh defeat of the season so far.
The Thursday Night Football game saw quarterback Andy Dalton throw three touchdown passes to Tyler Eifert as the Browns had no answer to their connection.
Moving to 8-0 sets a new franchise record for the Bengals; it is the first time they have ever been on 8-0 in their history, and is also their longest ever winning streak within a single season.
As well as Dalton and the Bengals offense piling on the pain for the Browns, the Cincinnati defense also played their part by completely shutting down Cleveland in the second half, allowing them just 32 yards and two first downs in total.
Dalton finished on 21 of 27 for 234 yards, and Eifert's three touchdowns move him to nine in total for the season so far, which also ties him for the franchise record for a tight end.
