New 'Christians in Parliament' Website Launched by Bible Society

The Bible Society has produced a new website in its latest initiative aiming to attract Christian Members of Parliament, and those interested in praying for and receiving more information about how Christians are impacting the political sphere.

|PIC1|The new website, entitled ‘Christians in Parliament’ (CiP) was launched last week at Westminster, and has been set up with a clear focus for prayer. Within the pages of the website, latest prayer needs will be laid out for those entrusted with the commission of governing the country, so that people around the country can come together with a united prayer focus for the major issues.

In addition the website also contains information regarding various issues related to politics and Christianity. The resources include a number of downloadable leaflets and links to other relevant websites.

Alistair Burt MP, who is the Chair if CiP stated, “You will be pleased to know that there is more Christian activity in the Palace of Westminster than generally assumed. CiP is open to Peers, MPs and all policy and house staff in the Palace of Westminster, and exists as an umbrella for the diverse expression of the Christian faith in Parliament. There are informal prayer and Bible study groups, and formal services in the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, Methodist and Roman Catholic as well as Anglican.”

Burt also testifies, “Both Houses of Parliament begin each day with prayer, led in the Commons by the Speaker’s Chaplain and in the Lords by a Bishop.|TOP|

“We deeply appreciate knowing that many thousands of people are praying for Parliament and its work every day.”

Dr David Landrum, Bible Society’s Parliamentary Officer commented, “We are delighted to support Christians in Parliament with this important development. The website will help Christians across the country to join together in prayer for the vital decisions that affect our lives and the lives of people around the world.
